social worker tells me not to work

I have been told by a social worker that I must not work, and that I must
be care-giver to my child.

I feel that I am being pressured by this social worker into something
that is potentially illegal, and certainly likely to cause a lot of
problems if the benefits agency finds out.

How do I protect myself? Who do I go to to get advice?

Citizens advice may know, or a local welfare rights place.
Be wary of social workers telling you what to do, they can be wrong
and its you that pays if they are wrong.
Always worth double checking.
